The Clean Ghana project was launched by Projects of Heart to raise awareness about the importance of keeping our surroundings and environment clean. As welcoming and friendly as Ghanaians are, one thing that has been neglected for decades is the cleanliness of our neighborhoods, streets, and cities. This has contributed to clogging of the street gutters by garbage, causing major problems with drainage of the gutters which then create standing waters that attract mosquitoes that transmit malaria. Malaria is an endemic disease in Ghana partly becomes of this problem.

Projects of Heart has taken this initiative to bring the country together to change the habit of indiscriminate garbage dumping by embarking on a clean Ghana campaign to educate Ghanaians about proper ways of disposing garbage to keep Ghana clean for all. We intend to work with various stakeholders from the private sector, government, as well as the Ghanaian people as a whole. We are each responsible for keeping our surroundings and environment clean. It is not the responsibility of one individual or entity but us all.

The Clean Ghana project will involve proper garbage disposal educational campaigns in schools, workplaces, public places, residential places, communities, and the general public using signs, billboards, social media, radio, and television. We count on the support of community leaders, including the chiefs, local Assembly, churches, business owners, and parliamentary reps. regional ministers, the Ministry of Education, sanitation companies, plastics recycling companies, the ministry responsible for sanitation, etc. Establishing and reinforcing laws against littering and inappropriate garbage disposal will be key to the success of this campaign.
